Let me first direct you to the SOURCE of the solution, the actual solution is at the bottom of THIS posting: www.vee90.net/vblite/show...readid=224 I followed the Driver Error Code, 39 in my case to this solution. And from what I can tell it worked. It appears that we all ended up removing, or not having the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters set correctly. Apparently Easy CD Created does it for us. I am a neophyte when it comes to being familiar with the inner workings of a computer, however, the device worked fine as far as reading CD's. When I decided to use it to burn a CD a message popped up that said there are no supported CD Recorders available. I run the Windows 2000 OS. Can anyone help?

I open up nero or about any other program... Make my cd and then when I click burn it goes to 7% and then says 'Write Error'...... I have wasted 10 diffrent cd's trying to fix this problem and have tried to solution above.

I went to the samsung support website and it won't give me any firmwares to update because my ODD is discontinued I think. My Cd-rom won't read ANY type of cd! I can't hear the motor run or anything! What do I do!? I don't even know what a firmware is, but if you suggest I need one where can I download one at?!

Posts: 0 (02/09/04 20:54:01) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I recently bought a new computer and I was having some burning problems before (Acoustica kept telling me I needed to insert a blank CD to burn, but there was already a blank CD in the drive). I tried everything I could find (different brand of CD, updating the buring software, etc.), and it didn't matter what I tried, I got the same message. I naively thought that when I bought a better computer and installed my ASUS CRW-5224 A in that, I would have no more problems. HA. Anyway, I can find the ASUS in my device manager, but Acoustica can't find it. I'm not sure what to try, as this system is running Windows XP (I had 98 before), and I'm really not that adept at troubleshooting, especially on a system I'm unfamiliar with (red flag? Have someone else do it? LOL). It seems, though, that I'm in good company here. Another problem is that I had someone else do the original install in the old computer, and they neglected to turn over the install disk, if there was one, or the free copy of Nero Express that was supposed to have come with the drive. The problem might not be the drive, or my copy of Acoustica (which, yes, I have updated), but is instead just a reflection of my own incompetence and I've missed something in setting this up. Any suggestions for me? Other than pack this puppy up and trot on down to the repair shop? If it's something I can fix myself, with a little guidance, I'd prefer to save the $49 per hour charge. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. ~Sunny

Posts: 0 (02/09/04 23:31:15) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Well, I now have the software recognizing my burner, and I tried burning a CD - but I'm still having the same problems I had before, where the Acoustica software tells me to insert a blank CD when there's already one in the drive. Anyone know what I need to do to get everything working? It was doing this before as well, in the old computer. I'd downloaded and tried a copy of Nero Express and got the same error message. I can play audio CDs in the drive just fine, and can install and run programs from the drive, I just can't seem to get it to recognize blank media. This doesn't seem to be a problem with Acoustica itself, I don't believe. If I continually keep clicking "ok" when prompted to insert a blank CD sometimes the drive and/or program will finally recognize the blank media and start recording...eventually, though, the burn fails for various reasons. Suggestions? Again, thanks in advance. ~Sunny

See if there are any discs recommended for the ASUS drive. If you're using CD-RW discs, try CD-R discs. Did you try lowering the burn speed? If these suggestions don't help, please fill out a problem report. Greg

Other times it hasn't, though I don't know why. I've tried using several different kinds of discs (Memorex CD-R, Maxell CD-R, etc.), and encountered the same problem, but I lowered the burn speed to 4x and it worked this morning. Hopefully that's all I needed to do. Thanks! ~Sunny

I used the NTFS format in my HD. The drive worked fine when burn CD/RW but no burn CD-R media Can anyone help?

I noticed, that if I uninstall Norton virusprotection, drive works great. I tried also some other anti- virus softwares, but the problem wouldn't go anywhere. Now if I need cd- recorder, I have to uninstall Norton, do my work and install Norton back. That's insain but nothing seems to help. Maybe I should buy new hardware or something. For the record; my samsung DVD- drive wount work any better $:\$

My XP installation kept insisting that due to some incompatibility Roxio Easy CD Creator would cause the system to become unstable and therefore didn't load the drivers. I used Nero to burn CD's etc. I got fed up with the popup telling me I had drivers on my system which fooked up the system, so I deinstalled Roxio. The popups still remained. I looked up the drivers which were still the problem and deleted those manually. Yes! The popups disappeared for a while. I didn't burn CD's for a while too.... Then, when I wanted to, I got a bunch of errors. I never connected that with me removing all Roxio components. After messing up a lot of different cd's, I concluded that my writer was fried and bought me a new one. That one refused to work at all. I switched the CD-Rom with the CD-writer as far as master and slave are concerned, which simply caused both devices to stop working. BIOS detected both, XP popped up with: new hardware found, but in the explorer they weren't registered and nothing worked. I took a look in the device manager and lo and behold, there they were with a yellow exclamation point saying that the drivers couldn't be loaded or were corrupt (fault error 39). I searched around for drivers so that I could update, didn't find any because everywhere it listed that XP should detect the devices on its own and use its default drivers. Argh! Vicious circle anyone? Then I found that the 39 errors might be caused by me removing the Roxio drivers. Hell, I am afraid I bought myself new hardware for nothing. Am going to try tonight to do a registry update and remove Upperfilters and Lowerfilters. If it works, I hope I can still return the new writer to the store $:\$
