Trouble With Samsung SW-224B CD-RW and Windows XP!!!! |
Lead | |
|
I just formatted my hard drive and put Windows XP in. I have a Samsung SW-224B CD-RW 24x/10x/40x! I also have a Hitachi DVD-ROM GD-7500. Now, I cannot find my disc that I got with the CD-RW which has the driver and programs on it, but Windows recognizes the burner as a burner but no burning program can locate a recording device???? Only Nero 5.5 will recognize the burner but it will not let me do a cd copy from DVD-rom drive to burner, it will only let me do an mp3 cd with just the CD-RW drive! Does anybody know what I can do to solve this problem or does anybody know where I can download the driver for my CD-RW drive?? Or a program that will allow me to burn ??? Please help! Thanx

Corytoronto has problems with the cd rewriter, I also get the screen that says can't burn no recognized recorder, even though I clicked the checkmark for the aspi driver in the third window of installation. I thought Goldenhawk was supposed to put out a new support list for rewriter support I guess My new rewriter will Never be supported therefore I can't use your burner.

Hi there!
Yes, Goldenhawk added new supported CD Recorders but it seems as though this specific model isn't supported. It looks as though the SW-224F model is supported but not the other 224 models it seems. If you'd like, you can send a request to Goldenhawk asking if your burner is supported by the Goldenhawk CD Recorder Library. I hope that helps. Hello,
Make sure you have the latest version of the software (version 2.14 as of this writing): www.acoustica.com/mp3-cd-burner/download.htm We recently added lots of support for CD recorders, so if you have version 2.07 or older, this might help. The Samsung SW-224B should be supported. Greg |

Hi,
What sort of driver were you looking for? You might check Samsung's web page: www.samsungelectronics.co...index.html Greg |

Guys, has anyone ever figured this one out. Is it really a cd burner driver problem or is it really a compatibility issue with windows2k or XP?

Hi,
If you are having trouble getting the Acoustica MP3 CD Burner to recognize your Samsung CD recorder, give our new beta version (2.991 as of this writing) a try: www.acoustica.com/public-beta.htm Greg |

Hi!
I had a similar case in my samsung SW-224B CD-RW won't recognized some software but, fortunately I solved it by doing the following: 1. Update the firmware of my SW-224B CD-RW with the Firmware R205 of SW-224B obtained from Samsung support web site. 2. I used the NTFS format in my HD. Try first item 1. Hope it works. Re: solution

There shouldn't be any issues with "drivers" for your CDRW burner, XP should have native drivers already. I also wouldn't flash any firmware for your burner, you can't turn back to the "old" firmware once you flash it, it's not like bios where you can go back to an old version. If the flash is unsuccessful it may damage to the CDRW burner permanently and render the unit useless.
I would update to the latest version of the software you are using, ie. Nero, Acoustica whatever rather than updating drivers, firmware to the burner. Please provide more information on what the issue is and any errors messages you may be receiving. |

one possible cause of those error is a conflict from the other vendor software, I have the same issue my SW-224B CD-R wont run on my AVANTRIX software it always saying that " no CD-RW found" so I couldn't burn any music CD and mp3, but in my nero software it works fine.
One thing I observed is, in the Device manager in the CD-RW properties it shows that my CD-RW is a SW-224B SCSI CDROM which I think is wrong, when I uninstalled my motherboard bundled IDE driver software package then it becomes SW-224B only then it starts to work fine. I think when you install a windows xp OS into your pc then you don't need to install the other vendor software specially for your motherboard driver, windows xp will automatically detect and installed it... |

Special motherboard IDE bus-master drivers can be problematic and cause a variery of problems on a variety of software and cd burner combinations. If you know how to do this and are having problems, it is not a bad idea to try!

Hey guys I also am having problems with my Samsung SW-224B CD-RW and my OS is XP. The drive worked fine when I purchased my PC (HP Pavilion 551w) but slowly it seemed to work less and less. It used to be that after a couple of tries it could read all cds now it cant read any and ive tried everything. I just dont want to do some thing to break my comp or any devices. Not only cant i burn cds(which im not too worried about) but i cannot play games or do anything, its as if I dont even have a CD drive. If you could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Email me will feed back at Raiderbuddy22@email.com and plz plz in the subject line type 'CD Problems'. Thanks a bunch yall.

Hi,
You may want to have a computer shop technician look at it if you're not comfortable troubleshooting the problem. You could also try one of those CD drive cleaning kits, in case the problem is dust build-up inside the drive. Greg |

Samsung CD-R/RW SW-224B problem
|
I was just wondering if it is a big coincidence that we all have the exact same problem.
I noticed the problem first when I was tranfering files from on computer to the next via a single CD-R. I did it about 5 times when the explorer indicated that the CD could not be written anymore. The problem was confirmed when no software on the entire computer acknowledged the Drive. INCLUDING the explore. In fact the only icon that appears under the "Devices with Removable Storage" section is the Floppy drive. Its like the CD-R/RW drive is not even there. I'm sort of a pack-rat in that I keep everything. So it was a shock to me that I couldn't find the Samsung driver disk that came with my computer. Which is why I find it strange that we all have similar problems and yet none of us can find the driver to re-install. However my computer came with a warranty and is still under it. I'm guessing that i should take my computer in for repair while I still have the chance. I'll let you guys know if and how the problem is solved. I hope that I can get my hands on the driver they used to intall the drive in the first place. |
